Victim Assistance Coordinator

In accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People adopted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, a Victim Assistance Coordinator was appointed for the Diocese of Allentown.

The Victim Assistance Coordinator, Ms. Wendy Krisak, coordinates assistance for the immediate pastoral care of persons who claim to have been sexually abused when they were minors by priests or deacons.

The norms resulting from the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People require dioceses to work with parents, civil authorities, educators, employees and volunteers to establish and maintain the safest environment for minors.

Throughout the Diocese of Allentown, there are five Safe Environment Programs:

  1. Background checks
  2. Protecting God’s Children™ for Adults 
  3. Student Program in our schools and CCD (PREP) programs
  4. A Parent Program titled, “Called to Protect”
  5. A local Safe Environment Coordinator

The Diocese of Allentown provides assistance to anyone, who as a minor, was sexually abused by a priest, deacon, or  employee / volunteer of the Diocese / Parish.  Parents, guardians, children, and survivors of sexual abuse are invited and encouraged to contact the Diocese of Allentown for more information about the program. The fullness of compassion should be extended to these victims by the Church.
